Malaga City in Spain

A port city with more than half a million inhabitants is Malaga City. Being the sixth most populated city in Spain makes Malaga a very attractive tourism magnet. Lying in between the rivers of Guadalhorce and Guadalmedina and situated at the bottom of the hills of Axarquia hills, Malaga is one of the oldest cities in the area.

The history of this great city can be traced back to 1000 B.C. Malaga was originally established by the Phoenicians and named Malaka. Six hundred years later the Romans came along and seized Malaka until the Visigoths captured it in the fifth century A.D.

At some point in eight century A.D. the Moors invaded Spain which resulted in the Caliphate of Cordorba becoming the ruling authority of Malaka which was the original name of Malaga. Malaga was turned to a Christian ruled local in 1487 due in part to the Reconquista and renamed the city of Malaga.

During the 1960s tourism transpired into Malaga’s economy and the foundation as well as subculture of travel took off. With their infrastructure cultured around tourism, Malaga invested in excellent bus, train and ferry connections to Morocco. In addition, investments were made to create a wonderful international airport.

The center of this wonderful city is surrounded by history. The center of the villa rental spain lays behind a harbor and a friendly stroll reveals the sights such as the origin of the renowned artist Pablo Picasso, the castle of Gibralfaro, the old Moorish fortress and a the principal shopping arcade of Calle Larios. The city is astounding with a mixture of ancient and contemporary sights and sounds combined.

A tremendous history of the city is only a small amount of what Malaga delivers for visitors. There are magnificent beaches with the city positioned on the Costa Del Sol. The beaches offer magnificent water sporting amenities, beach bars and extraordinary Spanish food and many other facilities.

For those visitors that are seeking the night life, the city of Malaga is prepared each and every evening for guests. Fabulous choices in restaurants, nightclubs and bars means that you can only visit them all by returning again and again to this ancient city in one of the greatest countries of the world.

Malaga is harvesting its ancient beginnings and making the most of them by adding modern attractions to have something for every visitor to its beautiful city.
