Girona Is A Province

Girona is a province of with a capital city of the same name. It is located between the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida and the French border. There are about half a million people in the province of Girona. People usually associate the province with its diversity, which can be really surprising. The most well-known and popular spot for tourism in this province is undoubtedly Costa Brava, though others are quite popular as well.

The weather is mild here and throughout the year this district also attracts with its beaches and mountains. As in any part of the country, it is sunny in any part of the year. However here you may sometimes also experience rainfall or thunderstorm and often even frost during the winter. The summers are really hot, while during the winter the temperature can be slightly below 0ºC.

Mostly there are lovely narrow streets that will make you feel like you have gone back in the old days when the buildings were erected. A great part of the buildings in Girona are built in the 12th century. After that period of time it began to enlarge, so there are still many old buildings from all the times that the province has gone through, including military fortifications of 16th and 17th century.

It is one of just a few villas costa brava that have preserved their historical heritage almost entirely. Most of the others you can just see in museums and exhibition, but Girona offer you the opportunity to see it just as it could be seen centuries ago.

A place you should definitely see if you come to Girona city is the Cathedral. It was built through many centuries, so it is a place where you can see the development of architecture in its entirety. Though there are many other impressive landmarks as well, especially those of architecture. Also, if you are interested in sacral and holy buildings, it should seem a very valuable and interesting visit for you, you can visit the Collegiate Church of Santa Feliu, which was built in the style of 14th century gothic style.

It can also be seen from the tower of the city, which will give you an unforgettable panoramic overview of this lovely city. Whatever you are going to visit in this city, it won’t disappoint you. Just a long walk along the beautiful old streets is really worth something!
